Eutropia

I'm working to make this project look better. I'm reviewing the content

Short Clip

During my studies at the European Institute of Design and on the occasion of a competition conducted by Userfarm, the short film Eutropia based on the "Planetary Zoo" of a scientific theory and "The invisible cities" by Italo Calvino was produced and proposed. fear a subtle social denunciation.

Produced, directed, video-edited, acted, and wrote screenplay and storyboarding in team to create the short video Eutropia. It's inspired to two books I red a long time ago Le città invisibili - Italo Calvino and Se gli alieni esistono dove sono tutti quanti? Il paradosso di Enrico Fermi (Scenario dello zoo planetario) - Stephen Webb. It talks about people running away from every-day-troubles. In the end, everyone finds out that the best solution is getting into a wrong world made of desire, drugs, sex, alcool and any kind of wickedness human being had ever met since the beginning of the centuries. Unaware people as slaves living in a parallel world, a zoo planetarium leaded by one great architect, the desire itself.

The video, about 4 minutes long, was awarded, resulting among the first in the standings and played on TV, Music Box (703 SKY channel) as winning production

Storyboard & Illustration

What form to convey the message? What shots? Which places? Many questions were answered in this initial phase of brainstorming on paper, the script. The brainstorming process was then designed in the form of sequential drafts, like a cartoon. The Storyboard is in fact a template that I obtained during my studies and that I used in this area to plan the scenes to be filmed in advance. These frames have been used according to cinematographic language and in harmony with the style of the Eutropia theme

Video Editing

During the video production I took care of selecting the shots and then editing them to create the timeline as established by the Storyboard. Meanwhile, the classmate took care of including the special effects of Matte Painting. Overall, color correction and refinements were performed to obtain the desired effect (like the Matrix movie). Subsequently, the format menu of a DVD menu was also created and produced which featured a suggestive introductory video, followed by an interactive navigation menu.

Scenes

The Storyboard design was applied directly in the field (with classmate). The video shootings were carried out (within a day) paying particular attention to the places and above all to the shots to avoid as few retouching as possible in post-production. Overall, the story of the short film can be divided into the following moments

Teasing

The result of all the work done is visible in a video of about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. The effect obtained is also due to the audio-visual counterpoints thanks to a Sound Design professional and classmate; this was Eutropia short clip manages to be engaging and suggestive.
